Students Receive Scholarships Through BCCC Foundation
The Beaufort County Community College Foundation is proud to announce the following recipients of scholarships through the BCCC Foundation for the fall 2017 semester. This is just a sample of the recipients. Check out the website every week for more recipients.
Stacey Godley has received the Lucy Burgess Scholarship. Godley, 20, is daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Godley Jr. of Washington. She is working toward an Associate in Arts, and she plans to work as a pharmacist. The Washington resident attended Washington High School.
Sierra Hansley has received the Tayloe Hospital Pharmacy Medical Scholarship. Hansley, 26, is daughter of Helen Weatherington. She is part of the nursing program, and she plans to go to medical school to become a doctor. The Chocowinity resident attended Washington High School, and she holds a Nurse Aide I Certificate, Nurse Aide II Certificate and an Associate in Arts from BCCC. She currently works at Vidant Beaufort Hospital as a nurse aide II.
Katelyn Kornegay has received the Community Scholarship. Kornegay, 19, is the daughter of Ed and Glenda Kornegay of Vanceboro. She is working on an Associate in Arts, and she plans to transfer to the University of North Carolina-Wilmington. The Vanceboro resident attended Washington High School.
Taylor Leggett has received the Washington Women’s Club Scholarship. Leggett, 19, is the daughter of Donna and David Leggett of Williamston. She is working toward an Associate Degree in Nursing. The Williamston resident attended Bear Grass Charter School. She currently works as a clerk at Mast Pharmacy and plans to her work as a labor and delivery nurse.
Sara Nicholson has received the Linda L. Penrod Scholarship. Nicholson, 17, is working on her Associate Degree in Nursing. She is the daughter of Lee and Sharon Nicholson of Winterville. The Winterville resident attended D.H. Conley High School, and she plans to attend East Carolina University’s School of Nursing to get a master’s degree.
Shana Taylor has received the James Franklin and Hannah Bagwell Scholarship. Taylor, 17, is working on her degree in medical laboratory technology. She is the daughter of Shane and Jennifer Taylor of Washington. The Washington resident attended Northside High School, and she plans to get a Bachelor of Science. She currently works for The Rich Company as a secretary.
Madison Teachey has received the Pruitt St. Thomas Episcopal Church Scholarship. Teachey, 20, is the daughter of Belinda Hague and Raymond Teachey of Hampstead. She is working on her Associate Degree in Nursing. The Hampstead resident attended Topsail High School. She is currently working as head waitress at Homeport Restaurant.
Nancy Wallace has received the Tri-County Scholarship. Wallace, 42, is the daughter of Carl and Gail Alligood, wife of David Wallace and a mother of two. She is working on her Associate Degree in Nursing. The Washington resident attended Washington High School. She is currently self-employed as a nail technician.
Shantasia Ward has received the Tayloe Hospital Pharmacy Medical Scholarship. Ward, 20, is working on her Associate Degree in Nursing. She is the daughter of Patricia Ward of Greenville. The Greenville resident attended James Madison High School, and she plans to get a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and become a midwife. She currently works for Vidant Medical Center as a care partner.
