One Page Marketing Plan

Participants will create a marketing plan that is clear, focused, results-driven and relevant. In this class, students will learn a simple way to create a one-page marketing plan and a marketing map to follow that includes the web, social marketing and traditional marketing. Often the simplest plans are easiest to stay focused on and to get clear team involvement. This seminar will take place at the Ocracoke Community Center on Thursday, November 30 from 2:00-5:00 p.m.

Using Video to Get More Business

This course teaches business owners how to be more comfortable in front of the camera for selling products or services. People identify with people naturally, but they identify with brands only after great expense and a lot of promotion. It is cheaper for a small business to brand itself by bringing its most passionate people out front. The class will address and demonstrate affordable equipment. Students will learn how to effectively post content on the web and distribute it on social media. Students will film a video, and they will have private access to the content for use online after the class. This class will take place on December 1 at 9:00 a.m. at the Ocracoke Community Center.

Financing Your Business

Brian Cooke will help participants take their business plans and dreams and make them a reality by tackling financing. Students will learn how to finance a business and who to seek out for good, solid and reliable advice. They will learn about loans and grants that can assist them. This seminar will take place Monday, December 4 at 6:00 p.m.

Data Security for Your Business

In today’s technological world of ransomware and additional threats, businesses are at risk of a data breach without appropriate action. From financial records to contact lists, one data breach can cost a company thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours to repair.Not only is a business vulnerable from a software and hardware perspective, but its biggest risk could be sloppy procedures by the owner or employees. In some cases, information affected by a data breach cannot be. This seminar will show owners how to conduct a penetration test of their business and give them a buffet of solutions for their infrastructure and employees. It will take place on December 7 at 2:00 p.m.

Recordkeeping and Taxes for Small Business

This workshop is perfect for business owners who know their product or service very well, but are frustrated by accounting. Owners should not be working hard and running out of cash at the end of the month. This seminar will help participants understand the financial aspects of a business and associated taxes. Participants will become familiar with those financial terms that confuse them, but are the road map to their success. Topics will include traits that make a business thrive and grow, CPAs and when and how do you use them, reading financial statements, required federal and state reports, and determining profit. The seminar takes place on December 11 from 6:00-9:00 p.m.
