BCCC Foundation Announces Darragh Foundation, Continuing Ed Scholarships



The Beaufort County Community College Foundation is proud to announce the following recipients of the Darragh Foundation Scholarship. Established in 1998 by Richard and Mildred Darragh, the Darragh family focuses on the impact of education in the communities it serves. The Darragh Foundation’s mission is helping to improve the lives of others. Scholarships from the foundation are awarded to continuing education students seeking their high school equivalency diploma and students working towards an industry-recognized credential returning to the workforce.

Natashia Colbert, 37, is part of the income maintenance worker program. The daughter of Lorraine Gordon and a mother of one, she hopes to start a non-profit for youth. Colbert attended Washington High School and holds a pharmacy technician certificate and an Associate in Applied Science in Human Services Technology from BCCC.

Austin Squires, 24, is a phlebotomy student and a resident of Washington. He is the son of Sandra Brown and attended Washington High School. Father of one, Squires currently works as a sales associate at Sheetz.

Brooke Wallace, 20, is the daughter of Tina and Rob Jordan. Wallace is part of the income maintenance worker program, and she attended Washington High School. She currently works as a sales associate at Sheetz. She plans to work at Beaufort County Department of Social Services.

Brittany Ward, 25, is part of the income maintenance worker program. The daughter of Trina Ward and Steve Ward, the mother of one hopes to become a human resources manager for the Department of Social Services. Ward attended Northwest Cabarrus High School and holds Bachelor of Business Administration.

Two students received the BCCC Foundation Board of Directors Scholarship. Established in 2015, this scholarship is awarded to continuing education students seeking an industry-recognized credential. Students must demonstrate financial need and meet qualifying guidelines.

Alba Rauschenbach, 60, is the daughter of George and Maria Arroyave and a Washington resident. Rauschenbach attended Agustin Codozi School in Venezuela.. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and an Associate in Applied Science in Business Administration. She plans to work with the Beaufort County Department of Social Services after finishing the income maintenance worker program.

Yecenia Reyes, 41, is the daughter of Olga Reyes, and a mother of four. She is training to become an income maintenance worker II. The Washington resident attended Trenton High School and currently works at Care-O-World as a bilingual office assistant. She plans to get an associate’s degree in Human Services Technology.
