Emergency Medical Technician
Credential: EMT Basic, NC Office of EMS

This course is designed to prepare students to work in the emergency medical field at the entry level and prepares them to advance into the EMT to Paramedic class. This course follows the guidelines set forth by the NC Office of Emergency Medical Services. Prerequisite: Copy of High School Diploma or High School Equivalency or at least 11th grade level on a Comprehensive Reading exam. Interested students are asked to schedule an appointment with the BCCC EMS Director to review prerequisites along with cost and course expectations prior to registering. Nurse Aide I
Credential: Nurse Aide I, NC Dept of Health Service Regulation

This course provides theory, lab, and clinical experiences which prepare students to provide personal care and basic nursing skills. Course content
includes: role of the nurse aide, infection control, communication skills, resident’s rights, and other pertinent skills. Upon satisfactory completion,
students are eligible to apply for North Carolina State Certification Examination. Successful completion of state exam is required for listing on the
North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry.
Prerequisite: National Career Readiness Certificate of a Silver or higher. We have a class at Hyde Davis Center to help with this prerequisite. Please

Requirements: SS card and current valid driver license/government form of ID with photo; background check and drug screen for Castle Branch
$65. Must be completed within 30 days of first day of class; 2 step TB skin test $60*; uniform: white scrub top and navy blue pants to be worn daily
while in lab and clinical. (scrub top and white mid-length lab coat embroidered with BCCC in royal blue) $105*; white closed toe/heel shoes; watch
with second hand $10*; dual head stethoscope $20*; blood pressure cuff $20*;
*These costs are approximate. The NC Certification Exam costs $120. Funding assistance may be available through NC Works. Interested students
should apply to the NC Works office in their home county.

BLS CPR for Health Care Providers
Credential: Healthcare Provider BLS CPR, American Heart Association

This course provides training to recognize life-threatening emergencies, provide chest compressions with ventilations and use an AED. Course
provides BLS skills practice and testing along with a written exam. Textbooks will be available for purchase at the start of class.
