Upcoming classes for manufacturing jobs, medical coding & real estate



Beaufort County Community College’s Division of Continuing Education is offering the following classes to give you skills to get your next job or to stay current in your field. Call 252-940-6375 or email continuingeducation@beaufortccc.edu to sign up or check on the status of a class.

Real Estate – General Update

This four-hour mandatory course satisfies the continuing education requirements required by the NC Real Estate Commission. The General Update course is developed by the NC Real Estate commission each year. Register & pay online. The class costs $50 and is offered twice this fall: 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 21 and 5:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 12.

Real Estate- Elective

This class will take place on Thursday, September 24 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Medical Billing & Coding: Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology

In this combination class, students will learn the basics of medical terminology and anatomy & physiology in the setting of billing and coding. Twelve hours of instruction will be devoted to each of the two sections. The medical terminology portion will look at how medical terms are formed and their definitions; as well as common medical abbreviations. The basics of anatomy & physiology will include studying the notable organs within each of the body systems and the roles they play. This class will serve as a prerequisite to the Medical Coding and Billing class. This $70 class will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. from September 22-October 15. A second class will run at those times from October 27-November 19.

Sign Language I

New online course in American Sign Language! This course is a beginner version of the fundamental elements of American Sign Language within a cultural context. Emphasis is placed on basic vocabulary, grammar, expressive practice to develop everyday conversational skills in ASL. Students of ASL can expect to acquire many insights, not only universal aspects common to all languages, but also specific information that is sound in studying ASL and learning about its community of users. Conducted through Blackboard and Zoom. Register & pay online. This $70 class will take place from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from October 1-November 19.

Advanced Manufacturing Institute

This course is designed to help anyone looking for employment in manufacturing to earn credentials, develop knowledge, and skills that are desired in the manufacturing industry. The class will provide OSHA 1 O safety training and certification, Yellow Belt training and certification, basic math, industrial blueprint reading and Working Smart training and certification (includes training is self-awareness, self-management, work ethic, communication and problem-solving skills.) At the end of the course there will be a meet and greet with local manufacturing companies. Some portions of this program may be online only so students will need access to WiFi and a computer. A Career Readiness Certificate of bronze or higher is required. This class takes place from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. from Monday-Friday October 26-November 10. This class costs $193, but a $500 scholarship is available through State Employees Credit Union.
