Networking Opportunities at Business Expo

Business owners can learn fundamental principles to help their business succeed at the 2017 Beaufort County Business Expo. The Washington-Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce and Beaufort County Community College’s Small Business Center are putting on two free seminars on September 27 from 11:00 a.m-2:00 p.m. in Building 10 on the main campus of BCCC. With more than 30 exhibitors attending, the expo will be a great place for established and upcoming local businesses to network.

During the Business Expo, participants can attend two seminars. At noon, Steve Fromme, Better Business Bureau Educational Foundation executive director, and Claire Abshire, Better Business Bureau community outreach specialist, will present “Scambusters– Bust… or Go Bust!” Scambusters is a game designed to introduce current and prospective business owners to the variety and danger of scams to which they will more than likely be exposed. Participants learn to differentiate between legitimate and fraudulent offerings. The game, developed by the Better Business Bureau Educational Foundation of Eastern NC, deals in a fun manner with the serious subject of being scammed and the subsequent consequences.

At 1:00 p.m. lawyer Will Mayo will present “Legal Tips 101— What Do I Need to Know for My Business?” The Business Expo will take place in the Multi-Purpose Room of Building 10 from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. on September 27.

Preregister is recommended for the seminars. Participants can call 252-940-3675 or email continuingeducation@beaufortccc.edu.
