The Division of Continuing Education offers three types of welding: Stick, TIG, and MIG.  Our classes focus on the basic fundamentals of welding using a hands-on approach.  Classes are offered a various times during the year.

Beginning July 2017, classes will be held at the Washington, NC campus of Beaufort County Community College in building 4. 

TIG welding will introduce students to the gas tungsten arc (TIG) welding process. MIG welding will introduce students to the metal inert gas (MIG) welding process. Using a hands-on approach, students will learn basic principles and practices of welding. Topics will include metallurgy and welding inspection.

Class size is limited to 10 per class.

Welding Kits will be provided. However, we will discuss the kits on the first day/night of class in case any student wants to purchase their own. Typically, kits cost about $202.83 (tax included) from the BCCC Bookstore.

Students who wish to pursue the AWS Certification can request the Credential Exam at the end of the course.  The Exam is administered by a third-party examiner and on-average is $250 and is paid to the third-party examiner directly.

SMAW or Shielded Metal Arc Welding is a method of welding using a stick or rod in the welding process. In this hands-on class, students will develop and hone their welding skills.

Students must officially withdraw from class prior to the first class meeting to receive a full refund.  Students must officially withdraw from class prior to the official 10% point to receive a 75% refund.  Students who withdraw after the official 10% point will not receive a refund.

Registration fees for self-supporting classes are non-refundable once the class begins (contact Justin Rose with any refund questions).
