BCCC Foundation holds auction preview on Oct. 23

The Beaufort County Community College Foundation will hold an auction preview on Saturday, October 23 from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. in the Boyette Conference Room in Building 10 on campus for people interested in seeing auction items in person before bidding. Items can be bought on-site for a “buy now” price. Over 180 items are on display. The BCCC Foundation relies on a few large fundraisers throughout the year to support students through scholarships and emergency grants. These funds help cover costs not within the guidance of existing endowments.

The auction will go through November 19 and can be found online at https://www.biddingowl.com/BeaufortCountyCommunityCo

With BCCC’s Beaufort Promise program to cover tuition and fees through 2023, many students are returning to college or attending for the first time, and their need for textbook support has been great. The Foundation has already covered over $70,000 for books.

The BCCC Foundation had initially planned an in-person banquet and auction but moved the auction online as COVID cases surged.

A variety of items are available in the online auction, including furniture, collectibles, kitchenware, art, and antiques. Some of the items in the auction include a Charlotte Hornets autographed mini basketball, NASCAR memorabilia and tickets to the NASCAR Hall of Fame, handcrafted items by local artisans including Pat Holscher, Sam Taylor and others, and a $100 gift certificate to Stewart’s Jewelry Store. The foundation has also focused on including experiences, such as an Appalachian Ski Mountain package that includes two tickets for the slopes and ice skating and a gift certificate to a local rooftop restaurant, wine tastings at the Duplin Winery for ten people, a hang-gliding lesson with Kitty Hawk Kites, passes to the Luray and Shenandoah Caverns in Virginia, passes to the Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens in Columbia, S.C., and passes to the Creation Museum in Kentucky.

Participants also have the option to donate directly to the BCCC Foundation through the online bidding platform.

The mission of the Beaufort County Community College Foundation is to provide broad-based community support for the college in achieving its educational goals. The foundation seeks to achieve this mission through the solicitation of private gifts of money, property, and services and by the management of such assets to enhance the educational programs and services offered by Beaufort County Community College.
